Why Pakistan Teams are Banned in IPL
- After the 26/11 attacks, all the bilateral ties between BCCI and PCB were dissolved, and Pakistani Players were banned from IPL. There was an initial ban on Pakistani players from participating in IPL. During the inaugural season 2008, there were 11 Pakistani players including Sohail Tanvir, who was the leading wicket-taker in Rajasthan Royals.
- In 2009, BCCI prevented Pakistani players from playing IPL, due to the diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan.
